WELCOME TO BELMONT BIO-AG
Belmont Bio-Ag, LLC is a company that grew out of the desires of members of a farming community to do things differently. With a new, wider U.S. Hwy 151 now by-passing Belmont, Wisconsin, and grain farms replacing the dairy and beef operations that used to dot every hillside, community members knew they needed something new. Something that could bring the future of agriculture to their community, something they could be proud of.
In 2002, a group of local people got together and imagined different ways to create markets for local agricultural products like corn, steers, and biomass. They knew that there were problems with livestock facilities and distributed power generation, and questioned if they could do better if they combined them. What would happen if they started from the position that doing the right thing for the environment, rather than a burdensome afterthought, became the core of the business?
Three years later, Belmont Bio-Ag is more than a dream. The first of its kind, it is an environmentally inspired agricultural campus design integrating horticultural greenhouses, ethanol production, cattle finishing, and electricity generation into one system called SymbiosysTM.
