WELCOME TO BELMONT BIO-AG
Belmont Bio-Ag, LLC is a company that grew out of the desires of members of a farming community to do things differently, to make an economic impact while protecting their area's environment. With the new, wider U.S. Hwy 151 by-passing Belmont, Wisconsin, and grain farms replacing the dairy and beef operations that used to dot every hillside in southwest Wisconsin, community members knew they needed something new. Something that could bring the future of agriculture to their community, something they could be proud of.
In 2002, a group of local people got together and imagined different ways to create markets for local agricultural products like corn, steers, and biomass. They knew there were problems with livestock facilities and distributed power generation, and questioned if combining the problems wouldn't produce a solution. And, what would happen if starting from the position that doing the right thing for the environment, rather than it becoming a burdensome afterthought, became the core of the business?
By 2006, their efforts engineered a system called SymbiosysTM, an environmentally inspired, agricultural campus design integrating ethanol production, cattle finishing, wastewater treatment, electricity generation, and horticultural greenhouses. SymbiosysTM (See Symbiosys(TM) page for full review) is a template proving to be flexible. Early on, the proposed Belmont Bio-Ag project reflected the fully integrated system. In 2007, Belmont Bio-Ag eliminated the cattle finishing operation and proposed the possibility of production of fertilizer.
In 2008, the Belmont Bio-Ag project received its water and air permits from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. (See Our Environment pages.)
We invite you to look through the BBA website. You will learn how the full SymbiosysTM system operates, and how it can be modified, such as for the current Belmont Bio-Ag project design. Soliciting of project financing in ongoing.
